Terms and conditions for Lernbus

Version dated 15 September 2026

These terms apply exclusively to Lernbus. The Lerngesellschaft terms and conditions (in German) apply to its other educational programmes.

1. Enrolment and agreement

Lernbus is a programme of the association Lerngesellschaft / Learning Society, Münsterplatz 17, 4051 Basel. A parent or legal guardian enters into the agreement with us for the child. Schools and organisations cannot enrol children in Lernbus.

We provide these terms before the agreement is concluded and agree them with you. Any individual agreement takes precedence. Your booking becomes binding when we confirm enrolment on the agreed terms. Requesting a time through the calendar or attending an introductory meeting does not yet constitute binding enrolment in Lernbus.

Existing bookings remain subject to the terms already agreed. Changes apply only if we agree them with you.

2. Lessons and booking period

Each lesson lasts 60 minutes. In the first semester, lessons are one to one, giving your child and their mentor time to build a trusting relationship. In the second semester, lessons take place in pairs.

You book one school semester at a time. We set out the start and end of the agreed semester and the lesson dates in the booking confirmation. Continuing into the next semester is agreed separately.

We work with care and respond to each child’s needs. We cannot promise a particular learning outcome.

3. Fees

We agree the content, scope, dates and fee before lessons begin. Fees are per 60-minute lesson; for lessons in pairs, the fee is per child. We discuss the appropriate rate with you at the introductory meeting.

Prices are in Swiss francs and include any applicable taxes and agreed additional costs. Invoices are payable within 30 days of receipt.

4. Cancellations and ending the agreement

4.1 Cancellations by parents

Please cancel a lesson at least 24 hours before it starts by emailing info@lernbus.ch or using the contact method agreed with us.

For each child, up to two lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice may be made up per school semester, at no additional charge. The same applies if the child or a parent caring for them unexpectedly becomes ill or has an accident, provided you let us know before the lesson starts. These cases count towards the same allowance of two make-up lessons. The fee for the original lesson remains payable; there is no additional fee for the make-up lesson.

For cancellations at shorter notice for other reasons, missed lessons without notice, and further absences once the allowance has been used, the originally booked lesson will generally be charged and there is no entitlement to a free make-up lesson. We deduct any costs saved and income from allocating the same time slot to someone else. If illness lasts for a longer period, we will work with you to find an individual solution. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.

4.2 Make-up lessons and school holidays

We agree make-up dates with you. Make-up lessons take place during the booked semester or in the first school holidays after it ends. We agree the available make-up periods and the deadline for taking these lessons before the contract is concluded and record them in the booking confirmation. If we cannot offer a reasonable replacement date for a lesson that qualifies, we will credit the corresponding fee or refund any amount already paid.

A make-up lesson also lasts 60 minutes. Any change to the agreed format, particularly a holiday group instead of a one-to-one lesson, requires your express agreement.

4.3 Absences from lessons in pairs

If one child is absent, the lesson goes ahead for the child who attends at the agreed rate for lessons in pairs, with no surcharge. The absent child is covered by the rules and their own make-up allowance in section 4.1. The other child does not have to attend the make-up lesson.

4.4 Cancellations by Lernbus

If we cancel a lesson, we will agree a replacement date with you or refund the fee paid for that lesson. If no replacement date is agreed, any unpaid fee for that lesson is waived. These replacement lessons do not count towards the allowance in section 4.1.

4.5 Ending the semester booking

The booking covers the agreed school semester. Mandatory statutory rights to end the agreement early, particularly under Article 404 of the Swiss Code of Obligations, remain unaffected. You may give notice by email.

When the agreement ends, we charge for services provided up to that point and any fees payable under section 4.1 for lessons missed before the agreement ended. We refund unused advance payments. If the agreement is ended at an especially unfavourable time, compensation for any resulting loss may be payable if the legal requirements are met.

5. Supervision and working together

Please tell us about anything relevant to your child’s safety, such as allergies, and provide an emergency contact we can reach.

We take responsibility for supervision from the agreed handover of your child to us until we hand them back to someone authorised to collect them. Please ensure your child is dropped off and collected on time.

6. Liability and privacy

Our liability for any loss or damage is governed by the applicable law. Our privacy notice explains how we handle information relating to the website, appointment booking and enquiries. Before we collect any additional personal data for learning support, we will separately explain how we process it.

7. Governing law and jurisdiction

Swiss law applies. The place of jurisdiction is Basel-Stadt. Mandatory legal provisions and rules on jurisdiction, particularly those protecting consumers, remain unaffected.
